Apple Bread: The Perfect Fall Treat

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups peeled and diced apples
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla; mix well.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in the apples and walnuts, if using.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  6. Bake for 55-65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Serve warm or at room temperature.
  • This bread can be toasted for an extra treat.
